Throughout my childhood, I grew up around people who were hearing impaired. I learned to sign and a few words in order to communicate with everyone. This led me to work for a local hearing aid company for 19 years. Throughout my career,I discovered I could make a difference in people’s lives simply by showing them understanding, compassion, and empathy. I spearheaded outreach and educational programs to local senior centers, assisted living centers, and community health fair

Background:
How did you get involved in the Independent Living Movement?
I became involved in the Independent Living Movement when I started my role at AdLib. My position is truly rewarding. I am able to help consumers as well as work collaboratively with our nurses and skill trainers. Together we advocate for our consumers with their physicians and MassHealth. This makes a difference in their ability to maintain their independence and quality of life in their own homes.
Fun Fact:
- My family is very musical.
- I have family that has played the saxophone, trumpet, bugle, drums, piano, the organ, and sang in church choirs and even musicals.
- I love music, singing and dancing.
Something that may surprise you about me:
