For 10 years, I worked as a paraprofessional in Special Needs classrooms for a local school district. After earning my Bachelor’s in English and my Master’s in Education, I began teaching English at the high school level and quickly transitioned to the Special Needs Department. I spent seven additional years teaching both in mainstream and behavioral programs. I am dual certified in teaching English and Special Needs from the elementary level to high school.

Background:
How did you get involved in the Independent Living Movement?
After losing my position during the pandemic, I began thinking of ways that I could continue helping disabled students without the stress of grading, curriculum building, and overreaching administrative oversight. Though I enjoyed private tutoring, I learned that some structure and a more consistent influx of students were necessary for me to both earn money and meet the needs of students in my area.
Fun Fact:
- I have two cats, named Frank and Steve.
- I make a killer Chicken Marsala.
- I cannot ride a bike.
Something that may surprise you about me:
Prior to my career and training in education, I had initially attended college for Graphic Design and illustration.
