I have over 42 years of experience working with people. I began volunteering with my older sister for the Special Olympics when I was 14. I went on to earn bachelor’s Degree in Education, minoring in Special Education. I have taught in public schools, and residential schools and have managed summer programs for children and young adults with special needs. I was the Program Director for the state’s largest Day Habilitation Center throughout the 90s, for a local ARC. My career has allowed me to work in many different positions including Human Resources, Private Duty Care, and now Adlib’sOptions Counselor for the past 6 years. I always knew I would be the happiest helping people throughout my life and career.

Background:
How did you get involved in the Independent Living Movement?
During the 10 years I that worked for the ARC, I had a front-row seat to the struggle folks were facing to make their own decisions and to live the life that they wanted and not how we, the staff, said it should be. I learned the importance of person-centered planning and I knew I wanted to continue advocating for people’s voices to be heard. Adlib stands behind the true philosophy of Independent Living and supports people in their quest to live their best life, on their terms.
Fun Fact:
- Proud Mom of 2 men now!
- Avid Kayaker in the Berkshires
- Tanglewood and the Beach are my happy places
Something that may surprise you about me:
When I was a camper at Camp Stevenson growing up, Iswam across Onota Lake at least 5 times as a young girl. It was the traditional end of the summer event for swimmers who were strong enough to do it!
